You know, building consistent Shopify sales isn't about chasing every trend or hoping one ad suddenly takes off. In this episode, you'll get a smarter look at what actually helps stores grow with more stability. We're talking about how to spot products with real demand, how to create content that builds trust and gets attention, and why long-term traffic matters if you want to build something that lasts. If you've been relying too much on guesswork, viral hype, or short-term wins, this conversation will help you start thinking more strategically about what it really takes to grow a stronger Shopify business. And now let's get into it with Ben and Zoe.
Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Deep Dive. You know, you are actually catching us right in the middle of a, uh,
a, a really fun internal jam session today.
Yeah. We were just nerding out over some of the recent numbers.
Exactly. So
f-for those of you listening, we're basically pulling back the curtain on the exact framework we use here on the Zik team to drive, like, consistent e-commerce and dropshipping sales.
Which is so needed right now, honestly. It really is. Mm-hmm.
Because the mission of today's Deep Dive is to tackle this massive, glaring problem we see literally every single day. I mean, you see beginners who are just totally obsessing over ads.
Oh, completely, just pouring money into Meta or TikTok.
Right, and they're completely ignoring the actual core foundations of sales.
Mm.
So the goal today is to give you, the listener, the three pillars of building a real e-commerce system so you can finally stop guessing and, you know, actually start building a real asset.
Yeah, because it's so easy to get distracted by the flashy stuff.
Okay, let's unpack this.
Because the gap between what people think works and what actually works is, uh, well, it's pretty wild.
It's night and day. I mean, yes, ads can absolutely get eyeballs on your stuff, but if you have a store that doesn't have data-backed products or smart marketing or organic traffic, it's just a house of cards. 100%.
Yeah. A house of cards is the perfect way to describe it.
Mm.
So let's start with that first pillar, right? Before you can market anything, you obviously need something to sell.
Right. You need an actual product.
But, like, how do you pick a winner without just blindly guessing?
Well, that's where most people fall into a really dangerous trap.
The TikTok illusion.
Yes, exactly.
It's just so common. You know, you're scrolling on social media and you see this product with just crazy engagement, tons of likes, millions of views.
Everybody tagging their friends in the comments.
Right. Exactly.
Yeah. Like, uh, take that steering cup example we were looking at earlier.
Oh, man, the steering cup. Yeah.
For those who don't know, it's literally this cup holder that you attach directly to your car's steering wheel-
Yeah ... which is insane.
Highly dangerous, yeah.
Very. But on social media, it looks like a massive winner. It was going totally viral, but then, you know, we pull it up on the Zik Analytics Product Explorer, and the actual monthly sales are just, uh, surprisingly low. Like, basically nothing.
Right, because engagement does not equal purchase intent.
It's like judging a restaurant entirely by its Instagram aesthetic, right?
Okay. Instead of, you know, checking if anyone is actually sitting down and eating the food, engagement does not equal sales.
That is exactly it. People were liking that video because it was funny or absurd, not because they were pulling out their credit cards.
Right.
But then you look at something completely different, like the pet fur remover glove.
Oh, the pet glove. I love this example.
It's the perfect counterexample. You search for a broad term like pet glove, and it's not getting millions of viral comedic views on TikTok.
Not at all.
But what's fascinating here is that the data shows multiple independent Shopify stores generating incredibly consistent monthly revenue from it.
'Cause it solves a real problem. Pet owners are highly motivated. They hate hair on their couches.
Exactly. It proves real market demand exists. The product isn't just getting attention, it's actually making money.
Which is the whole point. So I wanna pivot to my absolute favorite method for finding these winners, especially when you don't even have a product idea yet.
Oh, the filtering strategy.
Yes.
The exact filtering strategy we use in the ZIK Product Explorer.
Mm-hmm.
So for you listening, here's exactly what you do. First, you select the filter for products sold in dropshipping.
Yep, keep it focused.
Then you filter specifically for one product stores.
Which is so crucial to remove the noise.
Right, because you wanna know exactly what item is driving the revenue.
Mm-hmm.
And then, and this is the magic part, you set a minimum revenue of $10,000 in the past 30 days.
That 10K filter is literally a game changer.
It really is. I was running this yesterday actually, and I found this magic video sphere thing.
Oh, yeah, the glowing orb thing.
Yeah, the little orb thing.
Yeah.
It was selling for $53, and the data showed it generated $33,814 in just 30 days.
Wow. Yeah, see, that's why this filter's so powerful, because it guarantees you are only looking at products with proven demand.
Right. You aren't guessing anymore.
And it also proves you have enough price margin to be profitable. If they are moving that much volume at 53 bucks, the unit economics work.
Exactly. And from there, it's just execution. You can analyze their store, look at their pricing, check out their page layout-
... and go source it from AliExpress or wherever.
You're basically reverse engineering success.
Okay, so that's pillar one, validating with data. But moving to pillar two, you've got this proven product, like the video sphere. How do you actually get eyeballs on it without going broke on ads?
The cold start traffic problem. Yeah. And I'm gonna drop a hard truth here that, honestly, beginners absolutely hate hearing.
Uh-oh. Lay it on them.
You have to post consistently. I'm talking at least one post per day.
Yeah, there's no shortcut there.
People think they can post, like, five to 10 pieces of content and just wait for a viral hit, but that won't work. Growth requires a daily system.
It really does. Which brings us to the whole user-generated content, or UGC route.
Right.And influencers.
Exactly. When you look at influencer marketing, there are basically four tiers, right? You've got micro, mid-tier, macro and mega.
Okay. But our strongest advice, and the data really backs this up, is to focus entirely on micro-influencers. So creators with up to maybe fifty thousand followers-
Wait, really? Let me push back on that a second. If we want massive traffic, why wouldn't we just, you know, save up some budget and aim for a mega-influencer with over a million followers?
It seems counterintuitive, I know. But micro-influencers are so much better for a few reasons. First, they are way more affordable. Okay.
Second, their audiences are highly, highly engaged. And third, they are super motivated to create really strong content because they are still trying to build their own brands.
Oh, that makes a lot of sense. They actually care about the quality of the video.
Exactly. And you can usually set up really favorable deal structures with them.
Yeah. Like maybe a small fixed payment or even just a percentage of sales using a trackable affiliate code.
Which minimizes your upfront risk.
Right. But there is a golden rule here. You absolutely must match your niche.
Explain that a bit more.
Well, if you're selling sports equipment, you only partner with fitness creators. If you're selling that pet glove we talked about, you only work with pet creators. Relevance builds trust, and trust is what actually drives conversions.
Okay, so micro-influencers are great, but here's where it gets really interesting because my favorite method right now is actually completely bypassing the human element.
The AI route. I knew you were gonna bring this up.
Um, I may have to. The AI UGC revolution is just insane. It's so much faster.
It really solves that logistical bottleneck.
Yes, because managing fifty micro-influencers is honestly a massive headache. You're shipping products, waiting for them to film. They miss deadlines.
It takes weeks.
Exactly. But with AI software, like Hen, for example, you can create a hyperrealistic model holding your product in literally five minutes.
And it looks so real, you can't even tell if you're scrolling on your phone.
You really can't. You just write the script, you choose the hook, and you have complete control over the presentation.
And you can test things so quickly.
Right. You don't have to wait on a human to reshoot a video just 'cause the first hook didn't work. You just change a sentence in the software, hit render, and you're testing a brand-new angle. It saves money and removes all those collaboration limits.
It's incredibly powerful for that daily posting system we were talking about.
Totally. Okay, so we've got the data-validated product. We've got the daily UGC engine running, whether that's AI or micro-influencers. But that brings us to pillar three.
The long game.
The long game. Because, you know, UGC and influencers are amazing for daily traffic, but what happens if you just stop posting?
The traffic instantly dries up.
Exactly. The algorithm stops feeding you. So to stop chasing these random winds and build a true e-commerce asset, you really need a long-term engine.
Mm. And that is search engine optimization, SEO.
Yeah, capturing that organic intent.
Right. Like, say you sell yoga mattresses. You want to appear on the first or second page of Google when someone specifically searches for a high-quality yoga mat or yoga mat to buy.
Because that person already has their credit card out.
Exactly. That brings in massive free daily traffic from people with massive purchase intent.
If we connect this to the bigger picture, SEO is basically how you tell search algorithms like Google or Bing that your store provides real, tangible value to visitors.
Right. It's not just a fly-by-night landing page.
Exactly. It takes time to build, sure, but the compounding returns are just unmatched in e-commerce.
Which reminds me of that cat jewelry case study.
Oh, that store is a perfect example of this.
It's incredible. So there's this dropshipping store selling, uh, high-end cat jewelry, and they generated tens of thousands of dollars in just a thirty-day period.
And a huge chunk of that was pure organic traffic.
Yes. And how do they do it? By having this incredibly active, consistently updated blog.
They weren't just keyword stuffing product pages.
No, they built up massive topical authority. Let me just read a couple of these actual blog titles from their store.
Mm.
Uh, one was, "Most Expensive Cat Jewelry and Objects: The Art Auction Part Two."
Oh, wow. So specific.
Right. And another one was, "Should You Walk Your Cat Outside on a Leash? No Pros and Cons."
See, that is brilliant. Let's break down why that works.
Please do.
Those informational posts attract cat lovers who are just searching for advice or interesting content, right?
Or up the funnel stuff.
Exactly. Yeah.
But it builds the domain's overall authority. So later, when someone searches for a strong buying keyword like premium cat jewelry, Google trusts this domain.
Right.
And this specific store organically appears right there on page one or two of Google without spending a single dime on ads.
That is the magic. You combine a validated product with this long-term authority building, and you just create an unstoppable free traffic source.
It creates a moat around your business. Competitors can steal your ad copy, but they can't steal two years of SEO authority.
Absolutely. Okay, let's do a quick recap for everyone listening. The ZIC framework here is really three steps. Number one, validate your product with actual sales data, not just social media hype.
Use that ten K filter.
Yep. Number two, drive targeted traffic with consistent UGC, either through micro-influencers or AI generation. And number three, invest in SEO blogging to build a long-term organic asset.
That is the blueprint right there.
It really is. So if you're listening to this and you've been struggling, honestly, don't give up. By combining these three pillars, you can stop guessing and finally start building a reliable system.
Absolutely.
So what does this all mean? Like, where is this all heading?
Well, I want to leave everyone with a final concept to really mull over. Think about the evolution of dropshipping we just discussed today.
Okay.
Between leveraging AI for instant video content and writing all these blogs to capture search traffic, a successful e-commerce store today looks less like a traditional retail shop and way more like a fully fledged digital media company.
Wow. Yeah, that's so true.
If you are selling a product today, you are now in the media business. So how does that change the way you look at your store tomorrow?
That is a massive perspective shift. I love that. You aren't just a shopkeeper, you're a media director. Well, that is a great place to wrap this up. Thanks so much for joining our internal jam session today, everyone. Keep moving forward, keep making those data-driven decisions, and we'll catch you on the next deep dive.
