Competitor Research Tutorial

📚 What This Tutorial Covers

‍

Learn Four Ways to Do Competitor Research

‍

Goal: Master how to analyze competitors efficiently and uncover high-performing products and sellers using ZIK’s Market Insights and other tools.

‍

You’ll explore methods including Market Insights, Product Research, Direct Seller Analysis, and Watchlist Tracking — all designed to help you discover profitable strategies faster.

‍

✅ Insight: Competitor research is the foundation of scalable product sourcing and niche validation.

‍

1. Quick Competitor Research with Market Insights

‍

Goal: Instantly find and analyze top-performing eBay sellers.

‍

Start on the Market Insights Dashboard, where you’ll find two essential sections:

‍

  • Trending eBay Products
    ‍
  • Trending Dropshippers
    ‍

Before analyzing, go to Seller Settings and set your:
‍

  • Marketplace (eBay)
    ‍
  • Business Model (Dropshipping, Wholesale, etc.)
    ‍
  • Source Website (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, AliExpress)
    ‍

All seller data displayed will match your chosen settings.
‍

✅ Pro Tip: A 🔥 flame icon next to a seller means they have strong performance — prioritize scanning them first.
‍

2. Analyze Seller Performance in Detail
‍

Goal: Understand the full picture of a seller’s sales, listings, and success metrics.
‍

Click on the Spy Icon next to a competitor to open their full profile.
‍

You’ll see:
‍

  • Business Model & Source (e.g., Amazon + Walmart Dropshipper)
    ‍
  • Country & eBay ID
    ‍
  • Sell-Through Rate
    ‍
  • Active Listings
    ‍
  • Sold Items
    ‍
  • Total Revenue
    ‍
  • Successful Listings (%)
    ‍
  • Feedback Score
    ‍
  • Average Product Price
    ‍

All data updates in real time and can be filtered by timeframe: 7, 14, 21, or 30 days.
‍

✅ Tip: Focus on sellers with high Sell-Through Rates and consistent sales across timeframes.
‍

3. Filter & Find Winning Products
‍

Goal: Identify profitable products with consistent sales.
‍

Apply filters to view only products that sold at least 2 times in 7 days and have a minimum price of $10.
‍

Then click the Item Finder to locate the same or similar product from your supplier.
‍

Match Indicators:
‍

  • ✅ Green Check: Exact Match
    ‍
  • 🟦 Supplier Logo Only: Similar Product
    ‍
  • 🟥 Empty Box: No Match (Manual Search Required)
    ‍
✅ Pro Tip: Don’t skip “No Match” items — manually search them on the supplier’s site or via Google Lens to uncover hidden opportunities.
‍

4. Deep Product Analysis & Competitor Expansion
‍

Goal: Discover additional sellers offering similar products.
‍

Click Analyze Product to view who else sells the same or similar item.
‍

Use the Dropshippers Only filter to focus on your direct competitors.
‍

✅ Tip: This helps identify consistent high-performers and suppliers across multiple sellers.
‍

5. Build a Competitor Watchlist
‍

Goal: Track your strongest competitors and get regular performance updates.
‍

Add any seller to your Watchlist by clicking Save Competitor, leaving notes about their pricing or strategy.
‍

You’ll then be able to monitor their new best sellers and changes over time.
‍

✅ Insight: Keeping a watchlist helps you catch new trends early without starting your research from scratch.
‍

6. Discover Competitors by Product or Seller ID
‍

Goal: Find competitors manually through keywords or direct seller pages.
‍

Option 1 — By Product Title:
‍
Enter part of a product’s title (from Amazon, Walmart, etc.) into Product Research to find sellers listing the same or similar products.
‍

Option 2 — By eBay Seller ID:
‍
Visit a seller’s eBay Store Page, copy their Seller ID, and paste it into ZIK Competitor Research Tool.
‍

✅ Pro Tip: ZIK tracks over 95% of eBay sellers — if a seller isn’t in the system, they’ll be added automatically for you within minutes.
