The best selling video games on eBay moved an estimated 39,046 units in 30 days, worth $1,532,444 against 265,234 listings, a 14.7% sell-through at $39.25 a sale. This is a volume business, not a margin one, and the most crowded page on the hub. Pokemon titles and sealed stock are where it turns.

How the U.S. hobby and game retail market is trending, from official U.S. Census data, and what it means for your eBay video game sourcing. These are national retail figures, not eBay.
U.S. sporting goods, hobby, musical instrument and book store sales ran at $8.94B in July 2026, up 10.1% on July 2025 and within $4M of the series high set the month before. The line has climbed steadily for a year, from $8.11B last July to $8.89B in April. There is no video-game-only retail series, so this is the honest proxy: NAICS 451 is the group that contains game and hobby retail. New releases at retail are what push last-generation discs and cartridges into the second-hand market, which is the stock this page is about.
U.S. online sales reached $330B in the second quarter of 2026, up 12.4% year on year and about 3 times their 2018 level, with the Q4 2025 holiday quarter peaking at $365B. Video games suit that shift, because a title, a platform and a condition describe a game precisely enough to buy it without handling it.
On eBay, ZIK tracked an estimated 39,046 video games and consoles sold in the last 30 days, worth $1,532,444 against 265,234 live listings, a 14.7% sell-through at $39.25 a sale, with competition scoring High. That is the lowest sell-through and the most crowded field of any electronics page on this hub. Concentration, though, is milder here than in phones or tablets: ten sellers took 50.9% of the units and 46.0% of the revenue from 2,387 listings, and the largest, vipoutlet, moved 7,962 units. Strip those ten out and everyone else clears 7.3%. There is more room for an individual seller here than the other electronics pages, but you are competing against a quarter of a million live listings.
Condition and franchise beat platform here. Pokemon titles clear 68.4% of their 2,148 live listings, the fastest on the page by a wide margin, at $66.73 a sale, and they are the only segment scoring Low competition with High opportunity. Sealed stock of any platform clears 31.3% and Switch 26.2%, both scoring High opportunity. The platform-wide pools are the trap: PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox carry 63,253, 62,978 and 42,672 listings and clear 16.4%, 13.9% and 15.7%, all scoring Low opportunity. Game Boy and Sega look quiet at 2,773 and 7,371 listings but turn slowest of all, at 7.7% and 10.3%, so quiet is not the same as winnable. Watch the asking column too: PlayStation listings ask a mean $155.29 and realise $41.16, a factor of 3.8.
